When creating a character, it is important to have a strong concept that you enjoy. MIDNIGHT ARRIVING encourages new users to only read the general primer of the setting, as well as what specifically interests them. This page exists to direct you towards necessary subject matter to get involved, as well as making a concept you may enjoy. It is not necessary to read the entire wiki, but it is expected to at least read enough to understand the setting's limits.

Species are not a monolith. Suggestions here are based on “dominant culture”, stereotyping associated with a given species' context. A given species' information page will go more in depth with their history and extant cultures, but keep in mind that any species may belong to any form of culture. Do not treat these suggestions as a codified “if / then” statement on how to play your character.
Individuality as part of larger systems is a key part of MIDNIGHT ARRIVING's world. As long as a background does not violate the boundaries of the setting, there will usually be very little limitations on how you choose to portray your character.
Worldbound describes settled cultures in the Emergency Coalition. While remaining in one spot may be considered unsafe by the more superstitious, the bulk of societies benefit from the goods produced by these communities. While typically isolated, these communities often serve as waystations.
Flotillamen belong to cultures that maintain stable communities in space within the Emergency Coalition. This may include true flotillas of spacefaring vessels, or even just stations. They typically lack the amenities of planetside life, in exchange for better connection or trade with outside cultures.
Voidbound come from disparate cultures that actively explore the space within and without the Emergency Coalition. Their communities may be centralized to singular ships, or isolated down to an individual level. They are exposed to the true multicultural nature of the Emergency Coalition, and live adaptable lives.
