Var'Nahl Prime was partially terraformed before the fall of the Thousand Year Empire. By the time that the Emergency Coalition had formed, and reached the borders of the solar system, the distress calls were long repeating the messages of the dead. Limited wildlife, an atmosphere easily adaptable with some genetic modification, and a cooler climate, Var'Nahl Prime was the stereotypical experience with terrestrial living.
Khordon-on-the-Mount was founded by Clan Galchimeg. A veritable fortress-city that's built into the face of Mount Khordon. It is a location patronized by the Pyromancer's Guild, due to its chief exports pertaining to burning elements. As it turns out, flame still remains the greatest threat to The Adversary's parasites.
The city was multi-tiered, with landing pads all but fully surrounded by defensive structures craft in Kharguin style with sloping rooftops. The streets are alive with canopies of brocaded carpet, warmly-burning lamps, and a peculiar holiday taking to the streets: Odhuu are out in force, wearing masks of wood and trailing decorum of ritual cloth. Multi-color displays of fire spin on sticks, wielded by obfuscated attendants in bird-like masks. Books in polychromic-gilded metals are handed out during acrobatic displays.
Evetyde was a local celebration for the young of the clan on this world. Marking the eve of another ceremony: the coming of age for the year's soon-to-be adults. Physicks distribute apothecarium pamphlets, companions present the year's embroidery-language, as all walks of life whorl together like boozy winding lights.
It was just before midnight. Najira was sat at a streetside vendor, as Evetyde began to settle. A kind of nervous energy filled the air, barely hidden by the rich scent of spices. With his legs crossed atop a cushion, within the canvas drapery of the barbecue, Najira's eyes kept wandering towards the streetside opening. He was waiting for someone. Fidgeting just a bit.
It had been a while since the two had seen each other. Part of Najira was afraid that the man who left would not be the one who returned. Another was excited, to see his love again. He had been relieved of his duties during his stay at Khordon-on-the-Mount, pilgrimage cut abrupt due to travel advisories in the father reaches of his route.
It gave him time to think. To meditate. To ply the trade of the gods, and offer fortunes or guidance.
Najira's wrappings were sparse. Fabric donations were rare in this city, with the folk preferring to offer metals. Thus, Najira's body was adorned in polychromic metals that had been polished and wrought into armlets, necklaces, and other adornments of religious rank. The human-hybrid brought much attention, due to the rumors of his lineage.
He lounged, on a cushion far too big for his body. Watching the red-hot grilles cook spiced meats and roasting vegetables as the cook plied his trade. For a moment, lost in thought.
